A Limit and C Limit errors

If a user of X-Rite Scanning Photo Densitometer models 880, 881, 882, 890, 891, or 892 receives "A-Limit Exceeded" or "C-Limit Exceeded" errors, it would indicate that the processor is in need of attention.

• The C-Limit (Control Limit) is the acceptable maximum limit that the daily strip must be within when compared to the reference or aim. Each film or paper manufacturer has a preset set of limits that is loaded into the densitometer when the control strip format is selected. These limits are set by the manufacturer and can not be edited.
• The A-Limit (Action Limit) is a midway point between the reference (aim) and the Control Limit. If a user receives an "A-Limit" error, it would indicate that the processor is not yet out of limits but that it is getting close to the Control Limit.
• The A-Limit can be thought of as an early warning whereas the C-Limit is when the processor is out of control. Each of these errors should prompt the user to consult the manufacturer's processor manual.
