L&E International, Ltd Implements X-Rite End-to-End Digital Color Ecosystem in Asia Pacific

Posted June 06, 2022 by X-Rite Color

L&E International, Ltd is a global provider of sustainable, innovative packaging solutions. As a certified packaging supplier for adidas, Verizon, Amazon (APASS vendor in Asia), Target, and many other brands and retailers, L&E maintains and upholds strict brand color standards across multiple countries and locations of manufacture.

Last year, L&E selected X-Rite digital color workflow solutions to maintain their high color matching expectations. We are excited to be working with one of the leading packaging solution providers in Asia-Pacific to build a digital print quality program across their packaging supply network. Over the past year, L&E has rolled out their digital print quality program, featuring X-Rite digital color solutions, in China, India, and Vietnam. This year, L&E successfully implemented the first printers and continues to expand to more printers and countries.

An End-to-End Digital Color Ecosystem

Today, L&E uses the eXactTM handheld spectrophotometer, NetProfiler®, PantoneLIVE™ cloud-based digital color standard database, ColorCertTM Suite for print quality process control and ColorCert ScoreCard reporting to ensure quality assurance within their entire packaging supply chain in China and South-East Asia.

Here’s how these solutions work together to optimize production and support L&E's sustainability efforts.

 eXact Family eXact

Designed specifically for print and packaging applications, the eXact handheld spectrophotometer can measure color on paper, film, folding cartons, and other substrates. All L&E’s printers are using an eXact, including the NetProfiler calibration software, to ensure the measured color values are meaningful and comparable against the digital color targets.

PantoneLIVE Design

PantoneLIVE

L&E also selected PantoneLIVE as part of their digital color workflow. PantoneLIVE is a cloud-based solution to communicate and target accurate and achievable Pantone® Colors across the entire supply chain. L&E uses PantoneLIVE to access spectral data for matching Pantone Colors and specific brand palettes on the target substrate. This results in accurate color definitions and consistent print color from multiple facilities. By using PantoneLIVE, the L&E team reduces packaging makeready times by targeting realistic packaging colors before going on press. These digital packaging color libraries by Pantone reduce rework and press sampling associated with matching physical references on different packaging materials.
ColorCert Desktop Tools for Quality Control in Print & Packaging ColorCert Suite The cloud-based ColorCert Suite is a modular set of digital tools used to define color requirements and collect press-run color data to report color performance across the supply chain. L&E uses both ColorCert Repository Server and ColorCert ScoreCard server.

Key Benefits for L&E and Their Printers

Vikas Gupta, Director of Creative Solutions & Development for Asia, L&E International said, “During the implementation of PantoneLIVE and the ColorCert Suite, it quickly provided us increased visibility into our color performance while also delivering real-time data to help us optimize manufacturing efficiencies and reduce waste. With PantoneLIVE, our printers can access digital Pantone and brand packaging color libraries for accurate color targets regardless of substrate, printing technology, or ink type. With the ColorCert Scorecard Server, we are now able to access the printers’ quality reports in real-time for actionable advice to improve results. This cloud-based dashboard supports us in monitoring the packaging quality without onsite press checks and to report compliance to brands.”

Supporting L&E’s Journey of Sustainability

Integrating digital color management can help package printers improve delivery times while supporting sustainability efforts to reduce waste and rework. For L&E, this journey of continuous improvement strengthens their ongoing efforts to augment sustainability in packaging while improving overall quality.
