Accurate Measurement of Intricate Fabrics & Multicolored Textiles

Textile suppliers and trim manufacturers work with highly complex materials such as lace, embroidery, jacquards, mesh structures, and patterned fabrics. These applications demand precise measurement of intricate fabrics, where multiple colors, open structures, and fine details exist within a single region.

The CiF3200 addresses these challenges by enabling reliable multicolored textile measurement through imaging based measurement, virtual apertures, video targeting, and multicolor extraction—delivering accurate, repeatable results across even the most detailed textile constructions.

Challenges

Accurate multicolored textile measurement is inherently difficult due to the complex structures and multiple colors present within small textile regions. These challenges are amplified when performing reliable measurement of intricate fabrics on detailed constructions such as lace, embroidery, and jacquards:

Together, these factors make consistent, objective color control—and dependable multicolored textile measurement nearly impossible with conventional measurement devices.

Solution

The CiF3200 uses imaging and advanced multicolor extraction to support accurate measurement of intricate fabrics, capturing clean, isolated color data from lace, embroidery, jacquards, and other complex textiles. This approach eliminates blended or averaged readings and delivers reliable multicolored textile measurement, even on multithread or highly patterned designs.

Live video targeting enables precise region selection, ensuring operators measure only the intended area while avoiding gaps, shadows, or adjacent colors. This level of control improves the consistency of both measurement of intricate fabrics and multicolored textile measurement, while reducing operator to operator variation.

Adjustable virtual apertures (2–12 mm) allow precise targeting of fine textile details, while automatic multicolor extraction measures features as small as ~0.5 mm. This makes it possible to accurately evaluate micro stitches, thin yarns, and tightly clustered motifs that were previously unmeasurable using conventional tools.

Together, these capabilities give textile teams tighter control over complex materials and deliver consistent, repeatable results for intricate materials and multicolored textile measurement across production.

Results

With these advanced multicolored textile measurement capabilities, quality teams gain measurable improvements in accuracy, speed, and confidence, even when working with the most demanding materials and sample types.

How it Works

  1. The operator places the lace, embroidery, jacquard, or patterned fabric under the CiF3200. The instrument displays a live imaging preview, allowing precise navigation around small motifs and textured areas.
  2. With on screen targeting, the user pinpoints the specific stitch, yarn cluster, motif, or pattern detail—avoiding gaps in lace, shadows from raised textures, or nearby colors that could distort the reading.
  3. The operator chooses a virtual aperture between 2–12 mm to isolate only the intended area. For extremely small features, automatic multicolor extraction captures details as small as ~0.5 mm, ensuring precise measurement of micro stitches or thin yarns.
  4. The CIF3200 separates individual colors within complex textiles, preventing blended readings and providing accurate, repeatable data for multithread, multicolor, and highly detailed materials.
  5. Results appear instantly in Color iQC, where operators can view tolerances, compare standards vs. samples, and maintain consistency across suppliers and production locations.
