GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., May 29, 2018X-Rite Incorporated, a global leader in color science and technology, and Pantone LLC, today announced six new libraries for PantoneLIVE™, a cloud-based digital color standard ecosystem. Developed with their PantoneLIVE Preferred Partner for ink supply, Sun Chemical, the six new dependent standard libraries are ideal for UV-cured flexography printers and converters allowing them to accurately match achievable Pantone Colors in label and carton applications. Consumer goods companies and designers can use the new libraries to better define, create, visualize and communicate color palettes for clear film packaging, aluminum labels and recycled cartons produced with UV-cured flexographic printing technology.

“In collaboration with Sun Chemical, we are continuously evolving the PantoneLIVE platform to support a wider range of packaging applications and help designers and suppliers easily visualize on-screen how color palettes will appear in production,” said Adrián Fernández, General Manager, Pantone. “The addition of the new libraries to PantoneLIVE makes UV flexo printing with Pantone colors on labels and cartons much easier by providing printers with the official Pantone spectral targets. Today, PantoneLIVE offers over 70,000 Pantone color choices for the top packaging and printing applications, helping to speed up the entire packaging design process and get products to market faster.”

PantoneLIVE is an end-to-end color communication ecosystem that bridges the gap in digital color communication between brands/designers and their print, packaging or manufacturing supply chains. Leveraging the cloud, PantoneLIVE ensures Pantone color consistency from design through final production by setting achievable expectations of the entire supply chain. The new PantoneLIVE libraries are available within both the PantoneLIVE Design and PantoneLIVE Production – Print and Packaging licenses. The new libraries include:

  • Metalized Paper Label with White Ink – UV Flexo
  • Clear Film with Varnish – UV Flexo
  • Clear Film with Base White Varnish – UV Flexo
  • Clear Film on Clear Plastic Bag – UV Flexo
  • Clear Film on White Base – UV Flexo
  • Recycled Carton Board with Varnish – UV Flexo

“Sun Chemical is excited to continue our partnership with X-Rite and Pantone and add these new color libraries to the PantoneLIVE UV flexo portfolio,” said Patrice Aurenty, Business Leader, Color Management, Sun Chemical. “These new color libraries are fully aligned with the standard Pantone language of color and bring color predictability, achievability and harmonization to the existing PantoneLIVE libraries. These enhancements contribute to the proven benefits of using a digital color communication workflow for every supplier in the graphic arts industry, from design to press. We look forward to the continuation of this exciting project in further market sectors.”
