No display on the X-Rite 918

Difficulty reading the display of a 918; either low or high contrast issues or lack of power.

Try turning the display contrast wheel on the side of the instrument.
Is the power adaptor working properly? Output voltage should be 7V.
Reset the instrument (see Related Support)
