Introduction The X-Rite® ToolCrib application provides several tools which help users interact with and evaluate several X-Rite instruments. This application's primary intent is for troubleshooting a misbehaving instrument, not for large-scale data retrieval.

If you are using an older version of ToolCrib, please remove the program using the Add or Remove Programs utility contained within the Control Panel of your Operating System.

NOTE: Version 5 changes its method of communicating with the instrument.  It is based on a plug-in type architecture  that will, going forward, make it easy to add support for future products.  In it's present state, v5.0.14 does NOT support all the models that the preceding major version (v4.1.0.15) included.  If you have any of the following instruments -- please continue to use v4.1.0.15.

System Requirements Windows: A Pentium class   Windows 2000, Windows XP Pro, or the new 64-bit version of XP Pro. 64 MB of Ram 80 MB of free disk space Available USB or Serial port (dependant on instrument type).

Macintosh: A G4 class processor running Macintosh OS/X 10.3 or higher 128 MB of Ram 80 MB of free disk space Available USB or Serial port (dependant on instrument type).  5.0.11 also fully supports the new MacIntel core duo processor.

To install the downloaded pc file: Removing previous versions of ToolCrib is required to avoid program conflicts. Click on the version number to download and follow the download prompts (save to disk).  The downloaded file is a ZIP file that includes a conventional Windows executable installer and a readme document.  Extract both files to a temporary location on your hard drive and then double-click the installer to begin the installation.  Follow prompts.

To install the downloaded Mac file: Removing previous versions of ToolCrib is required to avoid program conflicts. Click on the version number to download and follow the download prompts( save to desktop). Double click the zip file and follow the system prompts to install.

* Note that v5.0.11 restored the "Tab" key as a field delimiter in the X-Key function.  This feature was removed with the first release of version 5 and has been the target of numerous customer requests.  The "Tab" key allows instruments to be used within a web browser's form.
