Does Viewer work in conjunction with monitor calibration?

Yes.

The viewer will render accurate color on screen, but this can be improved considerably if the monitor is calibrated with a solution such as ColorMunki Smile or i1DisplayPro. Both of these solutions can be ordered on pantone.com or from your local Pantone or X-Rite reseller.
