Customers might want a recommended workflow for printer profiling.For best results, users may want to try the following workflow:
Select “Advanced” on the right side of i1Profiler’s home page
Select your printer (or RGB Printer) in the left pane (Workflow Selector) and click “Profiling” beneath it
Use the default 2033 patches or try 1586 patches to include a good number of neutral and near-neutral patches.
Click “Next” and choose your device, paper size, and change the Patch width to 50% wider in Patch Layout. This will allow for 50% more sampling for each patch during measurement and should improve accuracy. Click “Save” in the page data to save the test chart in the Assets tree in the left pane. Click “Print” to print directly to your printer. Color Management will be turned off for you. Just make sure to print with the proper paper size, media type, and the same quality as you will use to print your final images. Allow an hour to dry.
You can return to the step that you left off with by opening i1Profiler, click on Profiling under the printer, click “Next” and then double-click on the saved Test Chart in the Assets tree. All previous settings will load. Click “Next”, calibrate your device, and measure your test chart. It would be wise to save your measurement file in case you decide to try different profile settings. Going to the Measurement workflow step and double-clicking on the saved measurement file will reload all data.
You can save the profile in the final ICC Profile workflow step and it will save on Mac to the Mac HD/Users/<user name>/Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder and on Windows to the C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color folder to be usable when printing.
