The following industry professionals will be leading the 2008 Color Control Freak Seminars.
Phil Nelson
In 2004 Phil Nelson founded Phil Nelson Imaging LLC, a business focused on digital photographic imaging, training and consulting. Phil is a landscape photographer selling large format images to private and corporate clients. He also provides image reproduction services to clients like Hearst Magazines. Nelson has also teamed up with X-Rite Color Services, the services arm of the premier supplier of color management solutions. As an X-Rite Color Expert™, Phil leads seminar, classroom and on-site color training sessions across the US. He often helps photographers transitioning to a digital workflow and serves as a consultant for businesses working out the tricky aspects of digital color management. In 2007 Nelson authored the book, The Photographer’s Guide to Color Management for Amherst Media. Prior to starting his imaging business, Phil worked with Adobe Systems and Apple Inc. for 17 years. A gallery of Phil’s current photographs can be seen on his web site, www.panelson.com and many of his images can be licensed through the stock agency, Aurora Photos of Portland, Maine.
Marc Aguilera
Marc is an X-Rite Color Expert consultant with 16 years of field experience in digital imaging and color management. He is a certified Apple Color Management Pro and Color Management Trainer and holds an honorary degree in Visual Arts with an emphasis on Digital Computing and Photography from the University of California San Diego.
Marc Aguilera is a founding partner of encompus, inc: a completely color managed creative firm focusing on design, interactive development, and color consulting – utilizing his knowledge in the real world of design form screen to print and beyond.
Prior to encompus, Marc worked as a Senior Application Engineer for ColorBlind Software and taught ICC color management globally to manufacturers, engineers and end users. Marc serves as a speaker for the Advertising Photographers Association, and Associated Society for Media Photographers.
In 2005 he was honored for his photography skills with the grand prize for the HPOn Assignment Photo Contest.
Mark Gundlach
Mark is an X-Rite Color Expert and manager of Training and Curriculum Development. He has accumulated over 18 years of experience working in photography, design and print environments. As a graduate of Kent State University in journalism and photo illustration, he worked for 7 years as a commercial photographer and was one of the first to adopt and use digital photography in a commercial studio. Mark was an early advocate a full digital workflow process. Later he used his experience as a system integrator installing and training photo labs, studios, ad agencies, sign shops, and others on color management, prepress production, digital sign making, and digital workflow best practices. Mark is a certified Apple Color Management Pro and Color Management Trainer and has helped hundreds of companies take control of their workflows over his 10 years of professional training.
