Color Bar Scanning FAQs
Why do I need a color bar scanning device?
To reproduce accurate color in print, you need to evaluate ink and paper color and create an ICC profile for each media, ink, and printer combination. The resulting color profiles help ensure you can maintain accurate color when running jobs with these new applications. However, measuring the color bar of a typical press sheet with a densitometer to evaluate dot gain or a spectrophotometer to create profiles can be time consuming and difficult to manage in a high-volume production environment.
Test charts can have hundreds – even thousands – of patches. Automated color bar scanners and chart readers capture the patches automatically to minimize human error for a closed loop solution. This frees up operators to work on other tasks to meet the creative demands of customers.
