"xritedev application" Fails To Launch At Startup

Customer experiences an "xritedev application" message when they start their computer. The error message indicates that the XRD Service could not be loaded at system startup. This can be related to a conflict with other startup items that are connected to legacy X-Rite software like i1Match, ProfileMaker, MonacoProfiler if installed on the same computer.

To solve the issue, please go to menu Start > All Programs > Startup and delete shortcuts for 'ProfileReminder' and/or 'Logo Calibration Loader'.

If deleting the startup items fails to correct this issue, try the following:

  1. Close the i1Profiler and/or ColorMunki program
  2. Unplug all X-Rite measurement devices
  3. Uninstall X-Rite Device Services using “Add/Remove Programs” in Control Panel
  4. Restart computer (even if not requested by uninstaller)
  5. Install the latest version of X-Rite Device Services and restart the computer

Note: This has been only been reported on Windows XP, but there is a chance that this symptom might also occur on other Windows operating systems.
