Resetting the ShadeVision Instrument

If the ShadeVision instrument is not connecting to the PC, failing calibration, or producing calibration or measurement errors, resetting the instrument could resolve the issue.

While rare, it is sometimes necessary to reset any computer based instrument. This action will restore the instrument to "factory new" conditions.  X-Rite's Applications' Support staff will generally suggest this path only if all other reasonable alternatives have been tried: any measurments stored in the device will be lost if a reset is performed.  In the unlikely event that a reset the ShadeVision hand-held instrument is needed, follow these simple instructions:

  1. Undock the instrument.  The instrument might display, "Please calibrate the instrument" [OK].  If it displays, "Are you measuring the same patient?" [Yes].

  2. Select the button that has the ShadeVision instrument icon on it (to the left of the battery icon).

  3. Select [Off] and then [Yes] to the resulting confirmation window.

  4. The instrument will shut down.  Simply redock it and it will awaken.  The instrument has now been reset.
