How to save a Mac System Report

The Mac OS has the ability to create a System Report which can assist in capturing information technical support can review. One of the hidden gems of the Mac operating system is the ability to capture a very complete picture of the computer's hardware, software details along with error logs and alert messages with a single selection. This feature is called System Report, and this 4 to 10 mb file is automatically created by your Mac when you make this selection. This single file can then be sent back to our support department and will allow us to learn any configuration details or software settings that could cause an issue in using X-Rite software, or connecting to your device.

To create a System Report follow these steps:
Go to the Apple icon, choosing "About this Mac", and then System Report.

When that System Information window opens and populates, please go to the File menu and choose SAVE.
That will create an .spx file that we'd ask you to send us as an attachment to a reply to this message. You can name this file anything that makes sense to you, but it will usually have a default name of whatever model of Mac was used to create the file. We typically recommend you save the file to your Mac desktop for easy finding in order to send it to us by e-mail, but as long as you know where you're saving it, anywhere on your computer's hard drive or network is fine.
