Resetting the 900 Series spectrally based instruments

Under some conditions it becomes necessary to reset the microprocessor in an X-Rite 900 series spectrophotometer. To return the instrument to all factory defaults proceed as follows:

NOTE:  If you are connecting your instrument to X-Rite software, it is necessary to set the baud rate to 9600 after resetting the instrument.  Details on configuring the baud rate are found in section 8.4 (entitled "RS232 I/O Parameters") of the owner's manual.

  1. Remove external power from the unit.
  2. Unlock the instrument shoe and wake the unit.
  3. Press and hold the center key. Simultaneously bring the read shoe up firmly against the bottom of the unit - closing the read switch.
  4. Open the battery door and gently pull the power leads free from the unit.
  5. Wait about 10 seconds.
  6. While still holding the key and the shoe, gently replace the power leads.

The instrument will immediately display "Clear Memory ?" on the top line of the LCD panel.  On the bottom line the unit will display "NO              YES".  Press the key beneath the word "YES". The unit is now returned to factory defaults (see Related Support). Immediately following this procedure you must continue by calibrating the unit before measurements may be taken (see Related Support).
