Why Must I Read a Midtone after Changing Plate Types?

Q:  Why does PlateScope require a tonal patch when I change the screen or plate type?

A:  In order to determine the ideal measurement contrast, PlateScope needs to understand the tonal difference between the image and non-image areas. To do this, a tonal read helps the device understand the contrast difference between these areas to provide highly accurate measurement recognition.
