Reinstalling CAPSURE Sync USB Drivers on Windows Systems

The CAPSURE Sync software should be installed before the device is connected to the system for the first time.

If the CAPSURE hardware is connected before the CAPSURE Sync software is installed, Windows Plug and Play wizard will try to find and install the driver for the CAPSURE device and fail because the driver has not yet been installed. To recover from this situation, users will need to uninstall the device from their systems and then reconnect it. The procedure is the same on XP and Vista\Windows 7 but the controls involved are somewhat different:

XP

  1. With the device connected, open the Device Manager :
    1. Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties".
    2. Next select the "Hardware" tab.
    3. Finally click the "Device Manager" button.
  2. Find the CAPSURE device in the Device Manager list. Right-click on the device and select Uninstall.
  3. When the device has been uninstalled, unplug the device from the system.
  4. Install the CAPSURE Sync software if it has not already been installed. Restart the systme if prompted to do so.
  5. Reconnect the device. The Found New Hardware wizard should open. On the first screen, select the 'No, not this time.' option. On later screens accept the defaults. The wizard should find the driver for the CAPSURE device and install it successfully.

Vista\Windows 7

  1. With the device connected, open the Device Manager :
    1.  Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Properties".
    2. Next select "Device Manager" from the Tasks list.
  2. Find the CAPSURE device in the Device Manager list. Right-click on the device and select Uninstall.
  3. When the device has been uninstalled, unplug the device from the system.
  4. Install the CAPSURE Sync software if it has not already been installed. Restart the system if prompted to do so.
  5. Reconnect the device. The system should find the driver for the CAPSURE device and install it successfully. The installation may take a few minutes.
