Norton AntiVirus Configuration Settings for ShadeVision v.4.0

Norton Auto-Protect anti-virus can block access to ShadeVision's database when improperly configured.  If Norton's Auto-Protect is enabled, the Firebird (ShadeVision database engine) folder will need to be added to the list of exclusions.  In order to do this, open the Norton AntiVirus program and then follow these simple steps:

  1. Select "Options" to open the Norton AntiVirus Options window.

  2. Click on the dropdown arrow in front of "Auto-Protect".

  3. Select "Exclusions".

  4. Click on "New" to allow the user to browse to the desired folder to exclude from virus scanning.

  5. Navigate to the Local Disk (C:)\Program Files\Firebird and then left-click on the Firebird folder to highlight it.

  6. Click the "OK" button.

  7. Make sure that "Include subfolders" is selected.

  8. Select "OK" to add Firebird to the list of excluded items.
